Josef Mutschlechner (born December 11, 1876 in Mühlen in Taufers , South Tyrol , † April 14, 1939 in Brixen ) was a South Tyrolean priest and apostolic administrator .

Josef Mutschlechner grew up in the Tauferer Tal and attended the Episcopal Gymnasium at the Vinzentinum in Brixen from 1888 to 1896 . In 1900 he was ordained a priest. After various cooperation positions , he was appointed Ordinary Chancellor. After the First World War , he was entrusted with the ecclesiastical administration of the parts of the diocese of Bressanone that remained with Austria from 1918 to 1921 .

After the death of Prince-Bishop Johannes Raffl , he headed the diocese of Brixen from 1927 to 1930, first as Chapter Vicar, then as Apostolic Administrator. Later he was head of the administrative office of the diocese. In 1933 he became provost of the cathedral .

It is thanks to his repeated resolute involvement that the Vincentinum was not given up and sold in the years after the First World War. He was also able to prevent the dissolution of the Vincentium by the fascist regime . Hence he is called the second founder of the Vincentium.
