Josef Nadj (born January 1, 1953 in Aranđelovac , Serbia) is a German sculptor.

life and work

Nadj was born in Arandjelovac, in today's Serbia, in 1953. From 1970 to 1974 he studied graphics with Gerd Neisser at the Freie Kunstschule Stuttgart , then from 1975 to 1981 sculpture with Herbert Baumann at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart . Nadj has been a freelance sculptor and draftsman since 1981. He lives in Dettingen , a district of Horb am Neckar ; since 2004 he has been honorary mayor of the village. Nadj is a member of the Baden-Württemberg Artists' Association.

As a sculptor, Nadj mostly works in the taille directe , ie directly out of the stone. His preferred material is hard rock, which he selects himself in quarries.
