Gerd Neisser

Gerd Neisser (born June 6, 1932 in Brno ) is a German painter .

Life

Gerd Neisser studied from 1953 to 1959 at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart with Rudolf Yelin, among others . He completed his studies with the art teacher exam. Since 1960 he has taught at the Free Art School in Stuttgart . Gerd Neisser's pupils included Almut Glinin , Walter Haas , Waltraud Munz , Josef Nadj , Markus Matthias Rapp and Jan Peter Tripp . From 1960 to 1997 Neisser was headmaster of the Free Art School in Stuttgart. As a substitute, he took over the management of a class for general artistic training at the Stuttgart Academy from 1971 to 1972.

Until the 1960s, Neisser mainly created black and white pencil drawings that became increasingly abstract. At the end of the 1960s he started drawing with colored pencils. When asked why there are no people in his pictures, he replied "People are absolutely unnecessary, they would even be detrimental."

Gerd Neisser's work has been exhibited in New York, Cairo and Strasbourg, among others.

Neisser lives and works in Eckartshausen . He is married to the ceramicist Doris Neisser-Steinkraus.
