Josef Schmutzer the Younger

Josef Schmutzer the Younger (* 1749 in Innsbruck ; † November 10, 1808 there ) was an Austrian baroque painter .

Life

The son of Josef Schmutzers the Elder worked as Josef Adam Mölk's assistant on the painting of the churches in Weiz am Weizberg, Langegg and Heiligeneich. Later he created frescoes, altar leaves and station pictures as well as portraits independently and partly with his brother Michael. Stylistically, his works are at the transition from baroque to classicism .
