Josef Wittmann (born April 25, 1950 in Munich ) is a German poet, writer and book illustrator. He writes mainly in the Bavarian language.

Life

Josef Wittmann was born and raised in Munich. After high school, military and alternative service, he completed an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk. He has lived in Tittmoning since 1977 , and has been a freelance writer since 2004.

From 1972 to 1977 he worked with Friedl Brehm on the editorial team of the magazines “Schmankerl” and “Edelgammler”. 1974 to 1977 he was a member of KEKK Cabaret & Engaged Kleinkunst . He has been a member of the Association of German Writers (VS) since 1984 and of the Munich Tower writers since 2000 .
