Josep Seguer Sans (born May 6, 1923 in Parets del Vallès , † January 1, 2014 in Vandellòs i l'Hospitalet de l'Infant ) was a Spanish football player and coach.

Career

Beginning in 1943, Seguer spent 14 seasons with FC Barcelona . During this time, the defender scored 38 goals in 214 league games, won five Spanish championships , twice the Latin Cup and four times the Spanish Cup and the Spanish Super Cup . In the 1951/52 season he was part of the legendary Barça de les Cinc Copes (Five Cups Barça), which this season brought all of the latter cups and the Martini Rossi trophy in one season.

On June 1, 1952, he played his first international match for Spain in a 6-0 win over Ireland . In total, he played four times for the Spanish national team.

After his playing career, Seguer first coached Betis Sevilla in 1959 and UE Lleida from 1964 to 1966 . In 1969 he returned as a coach to FC Barcelona to replace Salvador Artigas . Seguer took over as a transition coach and was replaced by Vic Buckingham after ten league games . From 1970 to 1972 he coached the second team of FC Barcelona, FC Barcelona Atlètic .

Seguer died on January 1, 2014.
