Parets del Vallès ( Spanish Parets del Vallés ) is a city in Catalonia near Barcelona with 19,082 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019) on about 9 km². The city is traversed by the river Tenes in a north-south direction .

history

The city was first mentioned in 878 , but only in 904 under the name vila Parietes . It got its Catalan name in the 12th century, probably because of the Roman walls that were found there ( Parets katal. For walls, walls).

economy

Parets has a solid infrastructure and is well connected to Spain and the rest of Europe. The economy is more industrial. Most of the employees work in medium-sized companies, although there are also branches of a few large companies (including Danone , Fujifilm , Novartis ).
