Joseph Anton Seyler

Joseph Anton Seyler , also József Antal (born February 9, 1778 in Lauterbach city in Bohemia , † September 24, 1854 in Gran ) was an Austrian conductor and composer .

Life

Seyler received his first musical lessons from his uncle, the rector Joseph Seyler in Schönfeld . After school he did a teacher training. In 1798 he came to Buchau near Karlsbad as a second teacher and organist .

After a few months he received an offer from Baron Trautenberg from Wildstein to serve as bandmaster for his brother, who was a lieutenant colonel in Piedmont and commanded a battalion . After some hesitation, Seyler decided to accept the offer.

After his marriage and his release, Seyler took over the position of choir director at the castle parish church in Ofen , which was also associated with a teaching post at the elementary school. In 1820 he received the offer to take over the position of the rain choir at the Metropolitan Church in Gran. Seyler retired in 1841; his son was called as successor.
