Joseph Braun (theologian, 1857)

Joseph Braun SJ (born January 31, 1857 in Wipperfürth ; † July 11, 1947 in Pullach near Munich) was a German Roman Catholic theologian, Jesuit and art historian .

Life

During his theological studies in 1878 Joseph Brown was a member of the KDStV Ripuaria Bonn in CV .

After being ordained a priest in 1881 and joining the Jesuit order in 1890, Braun became professor for church history and Christian archeology at the religious colleges in Valkenburg in Holland, Frankfurt am Main and Pullach .

Braun's scientific works usually have the character of a manual and are reprinted to this day; especially those for research on the vestments and the Christian altar are considered to be basic and standard works today .
