Joseph Deckert (pseudonyms including AJ Philalethes , Jainkef Frischmaul ; born November 17, 1843 in Drösing , Lower Austria ; † March 23, 1901 in Vienna ) was a Catholic clergyman and pastor of Weinhaus in Währing (18th district of Vienna). Joseph Deckert had a PhD. The neo-Gothic Weinhauser parish church was built during his tenure .

As a supporter of the Christian social movement, he earned services in solving the social problems of the workers. Like the leader of the Christian Social Party, Karl Lueger , he was shaped by anti-Semitism . Among other things, he published several publications on the alleged ritual murders of Simon von Trient , Anderl von Rinn and other Tyrolean children in the 15th century.

In 1893, Deckert published his sermon cycle, Turk Not and Jewish Rule, and distributed free brochures that were supposed to prove the ritual murder of Simon von Trient . He commissioned the convert Paulus Mayer for a monthly salary of 100 guilders to prepare a document for him, which was supposed to prove ritual murders with Kabbalistic and Talmudic sources. Deckert was charged several times for his activities and sentenced to fines.

The Pfarrer-Deckert-Platz in front of the Weinhaus parish church was named after him until the end of the 1980s , before the name was removed because of Deckert's anti-Semitic stance.
