Joseph Fidel Wieland (born July 6, 1797 in Säckingen , † February 22, 1852 in Aarau ) was a German - Swiss doctor and politician .

biography

Joseph Fidel Wieland was born in 1797 as the son of Joseph Fidel Wieland, who was the secretary of the government of Front Austria and the chief magistrate of the Säckingen women's monastery in the Breisgau district . With Joseph Fridolin Wieland he had a brother who also became a doctor and politician. Wieland attended the Lyceum in Konstanz before since the winter term 1814/15 in Freiburg first philosophy , then medicine and general studies studied. During his studies he was a member of the 1818 Old Freiburg fraternity , he therefore later to two years imprisonment was sentenced, of which he had to serve fifteen months.

After his exams in 1821 he worked as a general practitioner in Rheinfelden, where he worked from 1829 on the local council, in the district school council and as vice-president of the district court . In 1834 he became a member of the Grand Council and in 1935 a member of the Small Council of the Canton of Aargau . In 1836, 1843, 1846 and 1850 he was Landammann . From 1841 to 1843 and 1845 he was the canton's envoy to the agenda in Bern , and in 1851 he became President of the Aargau Constitutional Council .

Wieland was a Freemason and master of the chair of the Lodge Zur Brudertreue in the Orient of Aarau ; The Logenhaus ( Wielandhaus ) in Aarau , built in 1865 and also in 1971, was named after him.
