Joseph Fridolin Wieland

Joseph Fridolin Wieland (born March 18, 1804 in Säckingen , † December 13, 1872 in Schöftland ) was a German-Swiss doctor and politician . He was a member of the Grand Council of the Canton of Aargau .

biography

Wieland was the son of a grand-ducal Oberamt's born, had with Joseph Fidel Wieland a brother and studied after attending high school in Freiburg since 1820 Philosophy and from the winter semester 1822/23 medicine at the Universities of Freiburg and Heidelberg . During his studies he was a member of the 1822 Old Freiburg fraternity , which is why he in 1826 to four weeks imprisonment was condemned, he at Castle Kislau was serving.

After his doctorate as Dr. med. from 1828 he worked as a general practitioner in Schöftland. He became a district doctor, school inspector and medical instructor. In 1845 he became a member of the Grand Council of the Canton of Aargau. In 1858 he was appointed by the Federal Council as a division doctor with the rank of lieutenant colonel .

He dealt with botany and owned a herbarium with around 12,000 species .
