Joseph Khoury (Bishop)

Joseph Khoury (born November 1, 1936 in Behwaita ; † November 17, 2016 ) was a Lebanese clergyman and Maronite bishop of Saint-Maron de Montréal in Canada.

Life

Joseph Khoury was ordained a priest on December 19, 1964 .

On April 29, 1993, Pope John Paul II appointed him Apostolic Visitator for the Maronites in Western and Northern Europe and Titular Bishop of Chonochora . The Maronite Patriarch of Antioch and the whole of the Orient, Nasrallah Pierre Cardinal Sfeir , ordained him episcopal on September 4th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Roland Aboujaoudé , auxiliary bishop in Antioch , and Gabriel Toubia , archbishop of Tripoli .

On November 11, 1996 he was appointed Bishop of Saint-Maron de Montréal . On January 10, 2013, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related retirement.
