Joseph McManners (born December 3, 1992 in Canterbury , Kent , England ) is a British singer , film and stage actor .

Joseph McManners is the youngest son of Hugh McManners, a British journalist and Deborah McManners, who are now divorced. Joseph and his brother William, who is three years older than him, live with their mother on an 80- acre farm in Petham ( Kent ). His grandfather, John McManners, who died in November 2006, was a professor at All Souls College , Oxford .

Musical career

McManners describes the turning point in his life as the moment when he first saw the 1997 film Titanic in 2000 . Inspired by the song My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion , the boy decided to become a musician. He learned violin and piano and has already performed in school theater.

In 2004 he took part in a casting for the first time , and was selected from 25,000 applicants for the role of the Little Prince in the play of the same name . With the production taking over the BBC , McManners became known overnight. During the production of the Little Prince , Sony BMG officials became aware of McManners and signed him for £ 2 million .

McManners flew to Prague and recorded his first album - In Dreams - which hit UK music stores on December 5th, 2005. Already in the first week, the album entered the charts at number 5 and was nominated for the Classical BRIT Award in 2006 in the category Album of the Year . McManners even managed that his single, Bright Eyes, pushed music greats like James Blunt or Prince off the top of the charts in Asia . In December 2006, however, McManners and Sony separated. Acting career

Due to his vocal talent, McManners was engaged in 2004 as the title character of Oliver Twist in the Marlow Theater in Canterbury. When the BBC adapted a recording of the play for television in December 2005, Joe was also present as the leading actor.

His breakthrough as a film actor came in 2007 when he starred in the British comedy film Hot Fuzz . However, the scenes in which he was seen fell victim to the editing room, so that he can only celebrate his debut as an actor in the bonus material on the DVD.

McManners is considered a determined boy who even auditioned for the title role in Hannibal Rising in 2007 . He also attended the auditions for the literary films Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and The Journey on the Dawn . Its aim is to become known in the rest of Europe as well.
