Joseph Peter Bockhorni (derived from Pokorny ; born March 27, 1832 in Munich ; † November 29, 1905 there ) was a German glass painter .

biography

Joseph Peter Bockhorni was the son of a Munich glazier, from whom he learned this craft as an apprentice. He then turned to artistic activity and opened the "Munich Art Institute Josef Bockhorni" as early as 1864. Subsequently, he created numerous colorful and figurative glass paintings for churches and chapels in Munich, Upper and Lower Bavaria and the Bavarian Swabia. They were often made to designs and cardboard boxes by the Munich artists Julius Frank , Josef Zenker , Jakob Bradl and Max Fürst . He made several glass windows for the projects of the Munich architects Johann Marggraff and Joseph Elsner . He received numerous commissions from France, Romania, Austria and Alsace. Archduke Franz Josef awarded Bockhorni the title of court. He was a member of the Munich Association for Christian Art .
