Joseph Prathan Sridanusil

Joseph Prathan Sridanusil SDB ( Thai : โย เซฟ ประธาน ศรี ดา รุ ณ ศีล , pronounced [ joːsêːp pràtʰaːn sǐːdaːrunsǐːn ]; born February 9, 1946 in Wat Phleng ) is a Thai religious priest and Roman Catholic bishop of Surat Thani .

Joseph Prathan Sridanusil entered the Novitiate of Don Bosco's Salesians in Hua Hin in 1964 and made his first vows on October 2, 1965 . He studied philosophy in Hong Kong and theology in Bethlehem (West Bank) . On June 29, 1975 he received from Pope Paul VI. in Rome , the ordination . He was then at the college “St. Dominic ”worked in Bangkok and from 1979 to 1980 rector of the college“ Saeng Thong ”in Hat Yai and from 1980 to 1982 rector of the college in Bandon. From 1982 to 1984 he completed a doctorate in spirituality at the Pontifical University of the Salesians in Rome. From 1984 to 1986 he was rector of the school for aspiring religious in Hua Hin, then as inspection vicar of the Thai Salesian Province (1986-1992) and Provincial of the Thai Salesian Province (1992-1998). From 1998 to 2001 he was rector in Udon Thani, from 2001 to 2004 rector of the education center in Sampran. Since 2004 he has been Provincial of the Salesian Province of Thailand.

On 9 October 2004 it appointed Pope John Paul II. To the Bishops of the Thai Diocese of Surat Thani . The episcopal ordination on 28 November 2004 received his Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe , prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples . Co-consecrators were the Archbishop of Bangkok Michael Michai Cardinal Kitbunchu and Archbishop Salvatore Pennacchio , Nuncio in Thailand.
