Joseph Rappenhöner
Joseph Wilhelm Quirin Rappenhöner (born June 1, 1850 in Neuss , † February 6, 1898 in Bonn ) German Roman Catholic clergyman , theologian and university professor .
Life
Rappenhöner was the son of a surveyor . He attended the Neuss grammar school from 1860 to 1869 and then studied at the universities of Münster , Würzburg and Innsbruck . In 1873 he had to break off his studies in Innsbruck due to the Kulturkampf so that he retained the opportunity to become a priest in Prussia. He therefore entered the Cologne Seminary and received the on March 21, 1874 his ordination by Archbishop Paul Melchers . First he was chaplain in Heerdt , but in 1874 he went to further studies at the Würzburg University. On February 4, 1878, he was promoted to Dr. theol. PhD .
Rappenhöner worked from 1878 to 1884 as a professor of dogmatics and exegesis at the Catholic seminary in Leeds . However, he had to return for health reasons. In April 1885 he got a job at the Anna Chapel in Rommersdorf , before he came to the Church of St. Gereon in Cologne as a chaplain in November 1886 . On October 1, 1888, he accepted an appointment as an associate professor for general morality and apologetics at the Royal Academy in Münster . On October 24, 1891, he moved to the University of Bonn as an associate professor of dogmatics , where he was appointed full professor in March 1892 . In the academic year 1895/1896 he was the Dean of the Theological Faculty.
Rappenhöner died surprisingly in office. He was buried in Bonn.
