The Ivorian Joseph Téky Niangoran (born December 11, 1932 in Bonoua in the Ivory Coast ) is former bishop of Man .

Career

After attending the Small Seminary in Bingerville from 1947 to 1953, Téky Niangoran switched to the Major Seminary in Ouidah ( Benin ), interrupted from military service from 1957 to 1958. In 1961 he was Bernard Yago , Bishop of Abidjan , for priests ordained.

For a year he was professor at the Minor Seminary in Bingerville before studying catechesis in Paris . From 1964 he was vicar in the Cathedral of St. Paul in Abidjan and in 1966 took over the responsibility of the national youth pastoral care, in particular the JEC and the CVAV . After two more years of theology studies, Téky Niangoran received his doctorate in Rome in 1970 .

He then gradually became pastor in the parish of St. Charles Luanga in Adjamé and responsible for catechistic training in the diocese of Abidjan. From 1977 he was professor at the ICAO and from 1982 rector of this institution. Then in 1989 he took over again the training of catechists and the supervision of the associations of Christian families. In addition, he worked in the pastoralequippe of the parish of St. Jakob in Deux-Plateux , Cocody parish , where he lived. Joseph Niangoran Teky was ordained a priest on March 19, 1961 . John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Man on December 17, 1992 .

The Archbishop of Abidjan , Bernard Cardinal Yago , donated him episcopal ordination on March 14 of the next year ; Co- consecrators were Bernard Agré , Bishop of Yamoussoukro , and Alexandre Kouassi , Bishop of Bondoukou . On December 18, 2007, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related retirement.
