St. Augustine's Cathedral in Yamoussoukro

The diocese of Yamoussoukro ( lat . : Dioecesis Yamussukroensis ) is a Roman Catholic diocese in the Ivory Coast with its seat in Yamoussoukro .

The second tallest church building in Christendom, the Notre-Dame de la Paix basilica, is located on the territory of the diocese . However, this is not the episcopal church at the same time, but “only” a basilica . The seat of the bishop is the much smaller Cathédrale Saint-Augustin .

history

The diocese was founded on March 6, 1992 by Pope John Paul II and assigned to the Archdiocese of Bouaké as a suffragan.
