The Archdiocese of Bouaké ( Latin : Archidioecesis Buakensis ) is a Roman Catholic archdiocese based in Bouaké on the Ivory Coast . It includes the departments Béoumi, Bouaké and Sakassou in the region Vallée du Bandama and the departments M'Bahiakro and Daoukro in the region N'zi-Comoé .
history
Pope Pius XII founded with the bull Quo fructuosius the Apostolic Prefecture Bouaké on May 17, 1951 from cessions of territory of the Apostolic Vicariate Abidjan .
On September 14, 1955, it was raised to a diocese with the Apostolic Constitution Dum tantis and the Archdiocese of Abidjan as a suffragan . With the Apostolic Constitution Quo aptius on December 19, 1994 it was elevated to the rank of Metropolitan Archdiocese.
It lost parts of its territory in favor of the establishment of the following dioceses:
- September 13, 1963 to the Diocese of Abengourou ;
- March 6, 1992 to the diocese of Yamoussoukro .
