Joseph Höger Edler von Högen , self-designation Joseph Edler von Högen (also Hoegen ; * December 2, 1767 in Graz , † after 1820) was an Austrian administrative lawyer and poet .

Högen came from a Bavarian-Austrian noble family that was ennobled in 1691 . His father was an appeal and court counselor . Högen studied law at the universities of Graz and Vienna . After completing his studies, he first worked at the criminal appeal court in Klagenfurt . From there he went to Venice and was transferred to Linz in 1806 as an Imperial and Royal District Councilor . Already in 1810 he was for health reasons in the retirement staggered.

Högen published his collected poems in two volumes with Ferstl in Graz and Leipzig. They contained poems from his youth as well as poems from the time shortly before going to press. Anton Schlossar reports that his poems ... are noteworthy insofar as they are among the few better poetry that Styria had to offer at the time. A sensible disposition, a warm feeling for the beauties of nature, and a universal education on the part of the author are shown in Högen's verses, on which, by the way, Blumauer's and the other contemporary Viennese poets have undoubtedly had a great influence, also with regard to the frivolity that broke out here and there.
