Joshua "Josh" Meyers (born December 7, 1985 in Alexandria , Minnesota ) is a former American ice hockey player who was last under contract with the Krefeld Penguins from the German Ice Hockey League until June 2015 .

Career

Josh Meyers began his career as a hockey player in the 2003/04 season with the Minnesota Blizzard from the junior division of the North American Hockey League . Then the defender also played for a year for the Sioux City Musketeers in the United States Hockey League . He was then selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2005 in the seventh round as a total of 206th player by the Los Angeles Kings , for whom he never played. Instead, he attended the University of Minnesota Duluth and was on the ice from 2005 to 2009 for their ice hockey team in the National Collegiate Athletic Association . With this he won the championship of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association in the 2008/09 season , where he himself was elected to the Third All-Star Team.

In the 2009/10 season Meyers made his debut in professional ice hockey when he first gave three assists in twelve games for the Utah Grizzlies in the ECHL before he spent the rest of the season at Abbotsford Heat in the American Hockey League . In this he scored four goals in a total of 65 games and gave another 15 templates. In the summer of 2011 he moved to the Italian record champions HC Bozen in the A1 series , with which he won the Italian championship in the 2011/12 season.

In July 2012, Meyer was signed by the Krefeld Pinguine from the German Ice Hockey League and spent a total of three seasons there from the 2012/13 season. In the summer of 2015, the defender initially signed a contract with the Stavanger Oilers from the GET-ligaen , but decided a little later against the commitment and ended his active professional career at the age of 29.
