Joshua William Swartz

Joshua William Swartz (born June 9, 1867 in Dauphin County , Pennsylvania , †  May 27, 1959 in Harrisburg , Pennsylvania) was an American politician . Between 1925 and 1927 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Joshua Swartz grew up on his father's farm and attended his home public schools, Lebanon Valley College and Williamsport Commercial School . After a subsequent law degree at Dickinson College in Carlisle and his admission to the bar in 1892, he began to work in Harrisburg in this profession. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party . Between 1915 and 1917 he was a member of the House of Representatives from Pennsylvania .

In the congressional elections of 1924, Swartz was in the 19th  electoral district of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC chosen, where he succeeded the on March 4, 1925 Democrats Frank Crawford sites took. Since he renounced another candidacy in 1926, he could only complete one legislative period in Congress until March 3, 1927 .

After his time in the US House of Representatives, Joshua Swartz practiced as a lawyer in Harrisburg again. Politically, he no longer appeared. He died on May 27, 1959 in his hometown of Harrisburg.
