Josu Iriondo (born December 19, 1938 in Legazti ) is a Spanish clergyman and auxiliary bishop emeritus in New York .

Life

Josu Iriondo was ordained a priest for the Spanish diocese of San Sebastián on December 23, 1962 and was incardinated in the clergy of the archdiocese of New York in 1994 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in New York and titular bishop of Alton on October 30, 2001 . The Archbishop of New York, Edward Michael Cardinal Egan , consecrated him bishop on December 12 of that year ; Co- consecrators were Henry Joseph Mansell , Bishop of Buffalo , and Robert Anthony Brucato , Auxiliary Bishop of New York.

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on February 1, 2014.
