Robert Anthony Brucato

Robert Anthony Brucato (born August 14, 1931 in the Bronx , USA ; † November 7, 2018 in Yonkers ) was an American clergyman and Roman Catholic auxiliary bishop in New York .

Life

The Archbishop of New York and Military Vicar of the United States , Cardinal Francis Joseph Spellman , ordained him a priest on June 1, 1957 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of Temuniana and auxiliary bishop in New York on June 30, 1997 . The Archbishop of New York, Cardinal John Joseph O'Connor , ordained him episcopal on August 25 of the same year; Co- consecrators were Patrick Sheridan , Auxiliary Bishop in New York, and Henry Joseph Mansell , Bishop of Buffalo .

In September 1999 he was appointed Vicar General by Cardinal O'Connor . After O'Connor's death, Brucato was Apostolic Administrator of the Archdiocese for a few days . The new Archbishop Edward Michael Egan , appointed after only a week's vacancy, reappointed him as Vicar General.

On October 31, 2006, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related retirement.
