Juan Rodolfo Laise OFMCap (born February 22, 1926 in Buenos Aires , Argentina , † July 22, 2019 in San Giovanni Rotondo , Italy ) was an Argentine clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of San Luis .

Life

Juan Rodolfo Laise entered the Capuchin Order , made his profession on March 13, 1949 and was ordained a priest on September 4, 1949 . He studied canon law at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome and received his doctorate in civil law from the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba , Argentina. From 1954 to 1960 he was professor of law and morals at the Theological Faculty of Villa Elisa in Argentina. In 1969 he was elected Provincial of the Capuchins of Argentina.

On April 5, 1971 he was appointed by Pope Paul VI. Appointed Coadjutor of the Diocese of San Luis and Titular Bishop of Iomnium . On May 29, 1971, he received episcopal ordination from the Archbishop of Buenos Aires , Juan Carlos Aramburu . Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of La Plata , Antonio José Plaza , and the Archbishop of Córdoba , Raúl Francisco Primatesta . With the death of Carlos María Cafferata on July 6th of the same year he succeeded him as Bishop of San Luis. For many years he was dean of the Argentine episcopate.

On June 6, 2001, Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation because of his age. He was then until his death confessor for the Spanish and Italian languages ​​in the service of the sanctuary of San Pio da Pietrelcina in San Giovanni Rotondo.
