Eugene "Jud" Larson (born January 21, 1923 in Grand Prairie , Texas , † June 11, 1966 in Reading , Pennsylvania ) was an American racing driver .

Career

Jud Larson drove in 51 races of the AAA / USAC National Series between 1951 and 1965 , of which he was able to win five. In 1958 he finished fourth in the championship.

He started twice in his career at the Indianapolis 500 , which was classified as the Formula 1 World Championship race from 1950 to 1960 . At his first start in 1958 he reached eighth place on a Watson - Offenhauser in the same lap as the winner Jimmy Bryan . In 1959, this time on a Kurtis Kraft -Offenhauser, he retired on the 45th lap due to an accident.

In 1966 he was killed in a sprint car race in Reading.
