Judith Grümmer

Judith Grümmer (* 1958 in Cologne ) is a German radio journalist , audio biographer and author .

Life

Judith Grümmer studied history , geography and education in Cologne with a master's degree . During her studies, she initially worked as a television journalist at Westdeutscher Rundfunk , before concentrating on radio moderation and radio work at WDR and Deutschlandfunk from the mid-1980s .

Her journalistic focus is on social politics , education , culture , medicine , the environment and biography and memory work .

Since 2004, she has also been particularly interested in the socio-political development in Bolivia . In 2008 and 2009, in several months of voluntary social work by the journalist, in collaboration with the Bolivian Youth Hostel Association , the women and youth project “Cinco Palillos” in the Bolivian Andes as well as numerous journalistic projects were created.

As the daughter of the Cologne artist Jürgen Hans Grümmer , she has been committed to her father's artistic estate since 2008 and has published a monograph on him. Since 2010 she has been committed to the preservation and professional renovation of the listed Cologne Opera Fountain . In 2018 she was appointed to the jury for furnishing the Offenbachplatz in Cologne. In addition, as the heir to artistic copyright, she is committed to the careful further development of the Cologne university campus, which was planned and realized as a three-dimensional total work of art by Jürgen Hans Grümmer in the 1960s and 1970s.

In addition to her work as a journalist, she has initiated a family audio book project "Audio biographies of seriously ill mothers and fathers. Patients tell for their children", which has been a pilot project of the Bonn University Hospital under the scientific direction of Prof. Lukas Radbruch and seriously ill mothers and Creates an offer for fathers of underage children to tell their children their life story as an audio book (audio biography) free of charge as part of the project. The project is part of the initiative to implement the “Charter for the Care of Severely Ill and Dying People in Germany”.

Judith Grümmer is widowed and the mother of three sons. She lives in Cologne.

Awards

The radio journalist was awarded the Kurt Magnus Prize for her reports and, as part of the “office hours” team, the VDJM's “European Journalist Prize 2003” .
