Judith Ivey
Judith Lee Ivey (born September 4, 1951 in El Paso , Texas ) is an American actress .
Life and accomplishments
Ivey's father worked at a college; her mother was a teacher. Ivey studied acting at Illinois State University , after which she worked at the New York Public Theater and Chicago's Goodman Theater . For her roles in the plays Steaming and Hurlyburly she won the Tony Award in 1983 and 1985 . In 1992 she was nominated for a Tony Award for her role in Park Your Car at Harvard Yard .
Ivey played her first film role in the television comedy The Shady Hill Kidnapping from 1982. In the television drama What should Dixie because in the monastery (1983), she played one of the bigger roles. She played a bigger role each with Steve Martin and Charles Grodin in the comedy A Single Rarely Comes Alone (1984) and alongside Paul Newman in the drama Harry & Son (1984). In the comedy The Moles (1992) she was seen in a larger role alongside Jeff Daniels and Hector Elizondo .
In the thriller In the Devil's Order (1997), Ivey played the role of the mother of lawyer Kevin Lomax ( Keanu Reeves ), whom the Devil ( Al Pacino ) fathered years ago . The supporting role in the television comedy What the Deaf Man Heard from the same year earned her an Emmy nomination .
Ivey was married to Ricardo Gutierrez from 1973 to 1978. She married the film producer Tim Braine in their second marriage in 1989, with whom she has two children.
