Jugend 07 Bergheim was a sports club from Bergheim in the Rhein-Erft district .

history

The club was founded in 1907 as Borussia Bergheim . Ten years later, this merged with a club not known by name to form the Association of Youth and Folk Games 1907 Bergheim . In 1933 it was merged with the railway gymnastics and sports club Bergheim . At the end of 1992, the basketball , athletics and volleyball departments became independent clubs. On July 1, 2000, Jugend 07 merged with the CfR Kenten and BSV Zieverich to form FC Bergheim 2000 .

Soccer

In 1931, the youth 07 footballers were promoted to the then first-class Rhein district league . Two years later, the Bergheimers were bottom of the table and continued to play in the second-rate district class. After the Second World War , he was promoted to the district class in 1947. Two years later, the team became champions of their season, but missed promotion to the Mittelrhein regional league after a 2: 4 defeat in the decider against SV Merkstein-Streiffeld . In 1952, with one point ahead of Schwarz-Weiß Düren, he was promoted to the state league, which at the time was the highest amateur league on the Middle Rhine.

After it was barely enough to stay in the league in 1953, the Bergheimers went back to the district class a year later. The sporting highlight of this time was the first round match in the West German Cup against 1. FC Köln . In front of around 3500 spectators in Bergheim, Cologne won 4-0. It was not until the mid-1960s that they were promoted to the fourth-class regional league before returning to the district class in 1971.

In the 1987/88 season there was another Landesligacomeback, where the Bergheimer had to relegate, however, due to the worse goal difference compared to Eintracht Köln . In 1992 youth 07 returned to the national league and came fourth in the promotion season. A year later, after a season change, he was relegated to the district league again. 1997 then followed the descent to the district league A, where the club played until the merger.

The first men's team rose to the 2nd Bundesliga North in 1979 . After a fifth place in the 1980/81 season , the team rose voluntarily a year later.
