Dieter Höller

Dieter Höller (born September 3, 1938 in Bergheim ; † September 13, 2013 in Filderstadt ) was a German football player . In the first year of the Bundesliga , 1963/64, he was a player of VfB Stuttgart with 15 goals tied with Gert Dörfel (Hamburger SV) and Christian Müller (1. FC Köln) in the top scorer list.

career

Amateur football and Oberliga Süd, 1956 to 1963

From 1956 to 1960, the young striker Dieter “Buschi” Höller played soccer with Jugend 07 Bergheim in the Landesliga Mittelrhein. At the age of 22, he moved to VfB Stuttgart in the Oberliga Süd in the summer of 1960 . The newcomer, mostly used as a right winger, made 20 appearances alongside international striker Rolf Geiger in his first round in Stuttgart and scored eleven goals. The man from Bergheim played his first league game on August 14, 1960 in VfB's 3-1 away win at SpVgg Fürth , where he also scored a goal. After three years he had contributed 70 games with 29 goals for the Swabians in the Oberliga and had thus contributed his share in the nomination of VfB for the new Bundesliga for the 1963/64 round.

Bundesliga with VfB Stuttgart, 1963 to 1966

To reinforce the Bundesliga, the Stuttgart Presidium started a “return campaign”. The ex-VfB players Rolf Geiger and Erwin Waldner returned from Italy and from VfR Mannheim the junior national player Hans Arnold came to the Neckarstadion. Together, the three players scored 17 goals, Höller scored 15 goals alone and thus became the undisputed top scorer of VfB Stuttgart, who finished 5th in the first year of the Bundesliga with coach Kurt Baluses . In the second year, the Stuttgart slipped back to 12th place, coach Rudi Gutendorf had replaced Baluses on March 8, 1965 and Höller had only scored seven goals. Since the two newcomers, Helmut Siebert and Helmut Huttary , only contributed a total of three goals for the Swabians, the surprising nine goals by amateur Hartmut Weiß could not make the round as positive as in the opening year. In the third year of the Bundesliga, Höller only made four appearances with coach Gutendorf. With the away game on December 18, 1965 at 1. FC Kaiserslautern , which VfB won 2-1 goals, he ended his career in the Bundesliga. Together with Hans-Otto Peters , Willi Entenmann , Hans Arnold and Hartmut Weiß, Höller formed the Swabian attack on the Betzenberg. For VfB Stuttgart, Höller had played 60 Bundesliga games with 23 goals. Two international appearances came in the trade fair Cup of 1964/65 in the encounters against Odense BK - two goals to the 3-1 win on September 8, 1964 - and against Dunfermline Athletic . Regionalliga Süd, 1966 to 1970

The new club SSV Reutlingen with coach Richard Schneider and teammates Theo Diegelmann , Rolf Schafstall , Günther Kasperski , Ernst Kreuz and Rudolf Bast landed in the 1966/67 round in 6th place in the Regionalliga Süd. Dieter Höller had scored four goals in 22 games and only played one season in the stadium at the Kreuzeiche .

From 1967 to 1969 the station followed in the Bavarian Lower Franconia at 1. FC Schweinfurt 05 . In the two rounds in the Willy Sachs Stadium , Höller made 56 appearances with 14 hits and came in fifth and sixth with the 05ers.

For the 1969/70 round, the veteran signed a contract with the Regionalliga promoted VfR Heilbronn and moved to the Unterland . In 35 missions, he contributed to the fact that the climber managed to stay in the league with 14th place. Höller played his last regional league game on May 3, 1970 in a 2-1 home win against ESV Ingolstadt-Ringsee .
