Jukka Pertti Juhani Jalonen (born November 2, 1962 in Riihimäki ) is a Finnish ice hockey coach and former player who played in the SM-liiga during his active time for JyP HT . Since 2018 he has been the head coach of the Finnish national ice hockey team .

Career

Jukka Jalonen played only one season in professional ice hockey in his active career. In the 1985/86 season he played two games for JyP HT in the SM-liiga , the top division of Finland. Afterwards he was only active in the amateur field.

After the end of his career, Jalonen took over the coaching position at Ilves Tampere in 1992 , which he looked after for three years in the SM-liiga . He then coached Lukko Rauma in the 1996/97 season , before the Finn first worked abroad, where he coached HC Alleghe from the Italian Serie A for one year and then the Newcastle Jesters from the Ice Hockey Superleague for two years .

In the 2015/16 season he was head coach of the Finnish U20 national team and won the gold medal with them at the U20 World Junior Championship in 2016 . Between 2016 and 2018 he was the head coach of Jokerit Helsinki from the Continental Hockey League . He then became national coach again and was again world champion with Finland in 2019.
