Julia Köppl (born 27 July 1991 in Innsbruck ) is an Austrian Basketball - national player .

Life

The 1.82 m tall athlete is the daughter of former Austrian second division player Elmar Köppl. She grew up in Innsbruck and attended the Ursuline Realgymnasium there after primary school until 2009. After graduating from high school, she studied at the SRG University in Innsbruck until 2010. In New York she continued her studies at Dowling College until 2014.

Basketball career

Köppl started her basketball career with the Innsbruck Turnerschaft. She played there in the youth teams of the club up to the first team in the 1st Austrian league . In 2009 she moved to Germany to TSV 1880 Wasserburg , where she was used in the regional league team and also received four short appearances in the first division team of the German series champions. With the regional league team Wasserburgs, she narrowly missed promotion to the 2nd women's basketball division in 2010 and moved to New York for the 2010/2011 season to the college team Dowling Golden Lions playing in the NCAA II in the East Coast Conference . In May 2011 she was named a rookie for the East Coast Conference. In May 2012, she and her team won the East Coast Conference. In 2014 she was elected to the "Honorable Mention" team of the East Coast Conference in NCAA II. For the 2014/2015 season she moved to BC Marburg in the 1st women's basketball league .

National team

Julia Köppl went through the youth national teams of the Austrian basketball association. With the Austrian national team she was European champion of the small states (C group) in 2012 and 2014.
