Julian Hörl (born March 4, 1992 in Saalfelden am Steinernen Meer ) is an Austrian beach volleyball player and Austrian national champion 2017.

Career

Hörl started as an indoor volleyball player at SK Saalfelden in 2010, but then switched to beach volleyball in 2011 and made his first international appearance in Durban (South Africa) in 2013 with Tobias Winter . In his first beach volleyball season he finished ninth at the U20 European Championships in Tel Aviv with his then partner Simon Schörghofer. The three-year collaboration with Daniel Hupfer began in 2014. In the same year they finished ninth at the World Tour Open in Parana . The team achieved another top ten result in 2014 in Baku at the CEV Masters. In the same year, Hörl and Daniel Hupfer won the first national medal at the A-Cup in Fürstenfeld. In the following year, in addition to MEVZA and CEV participation, there was a silver medal at the Beach Cup in Tulln. In 2016, Hupfer / Hörl successfully qualified for the main competition in Kisch and Fortaleza . The high point of the duo was in 2016 when they won the bronze medal at the Austrian championships.

In 2017, they took ninth place in Kisch. After Daniel Hupfer had finished his career, Hörl formed a team with the Olympian Alexander Huber and was able to beat some top teams on the World Tour this year, such as the world champions Evandro / André Stein and the vice world champion Varenhorst . The highlights of the 2017 season were the gold medal at the Super Cup in Wolfurt, participation in the European championships with Alexander Horst in Jūrmala and the 2017 state championship in Litzlberg am Attersee.

In 2018 Hörl formed a team with the national team player Tobias Winter . After a ninth place at the CEV Masters in Pelhrimov, they moved into the semifinals at the fourth joint international tournament in Kisch (Iran) and took fourth place.
