Juliette and the Licks are an American rock band from Los Angeles .
history
The band was founded in early 2003 by actress Juliette Lewis . With guitarists Todd Morse and Kemble Walters , bassist Paul Ill and drummer Pat Schemel (former member of Hole ) Juliette and the Licks was born . They started out on a small scale at the Club Viper Room in Los Angeles .
In July 2004 Juliette and the Licks went on the Vans Warped Tour for some gigs in the USA . Then the decision was made to release an album.
Since Juliette Lewis thought her self-written songs were immature, but did not want to make a pure cover album , she decided to hire a songwriting coach . Together with Linda Perry ( 4 Non Blondes ) Juliette Lewis developed the concept for the debut album ... Like a Bolt of Lightning . The album was recorded in eight days and was released in October 2004.
In the spring of 2005, Jason Morrison took the place on drums. Together they played a small number of appearances in Europe. In the same year they also released their second album You're Speaking my Language .
The third album Four on the Floor (with Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters on drums) was released in September 2006.
In the summer of 2006 the band performed at Rock am Ring and Rock im Park . From mid-September to mid-November 2006 Juliette and the Licks were on their first European tour. In Germany they played in Berlin, Munich, Hamburg, Frankfurt, Cologne, Dresden, Bochum and Heidelberg. In the summer of 2007 they performed at the Hurricane Festival and in Austria at the Frequency Festival and in Switzerland at the Greenfield Festival in Interlaken.
In early 2009, Juliette Lewis announced the temporary exit of the band on MySpace . She is devoting herself to a new project that was supposed to be called “Juliette and the New Romantiques”, but is now running under her name.
On July 23, 2015 there was a reunion concert in Los Angeles.
