Julius Adam (painter, 1852)
Julius Anton Adam , called "Katzen-Adam" (* May 18, 1852 in Munich ; † September 23, 1913 there ), was a German genre and animal painter and lithographer .
Life
Julius Adam came from the important Munich painter-family Adam . The father's name was also Julius Adam (1821–1874) and was a lithographer. In opposition to this family, he initially occupied himself with landscape photography and worked in Rio de Janeiro . Afterwards he settled down as a genre painter in Munich. His successful cat pictures were created from 1882 onwards.
Adam was initially a student of Prof. Michael Echter (1812–1879) and then received further training from Wilhelm von Diez (1839–1907) at the Munich Academy .
tomb
According to the inscription on the tomb of his grandfather ( Albrecht Adam 1786-1862) by Julius Adam is he in the grave of his grandfather on the old southern cemetery in Munich (burial ground 27 - Series 1 - Place 25/26) Location . The grave book, however, does not record the grandson Julius Adam.
