Julius Claussen (born October 3, 1899 in Gelting ; † May 16, 1974 in Bad Godesberg ) was a German administrative lawyer.

Life and work

Julius Claussen was born as the son of the businessman Bernhard Claussen and Anna-Margarethe Moritzen.

After graduating from high school, he took part in the First World War as a soldier for two years. In 1919 he went to Göttingen and began studying law and political science. Here he became a member of the Hannovera fraternity . In March 1920, he responded to an appeal by the Reich government and joined the Reichswehr as a volunteer. The company, consisting of Göttingen fraternities and gymnastics associations, was deployed on the edge of the Ruhr area for two months against communist insurgents.

After four semesters, Julius Claussen moved to Tübingen , where he completed his studies with a doctorate. jur. from.

From 1923 to 1926 he worked in agricultural organization in Berlin and Hanover. Then he entered the state service at the Prussian Ministry for Agriculture, Domains and Forests . Here he was initially responsible for the dairy industry. After the Ministry was incorporated into the Reich Ministry of Food , he was head of the sub-department for fisheries with the rank of ministerial director.

From 1947 Julius Claussen held the office of managing director of the German farmers' association . In 1952 he was appointed ministerial director and head of the representation of the state of Schleswig-Holstein at the federal government in Bonn. In 1964 he was promoted to State Secretary. He retired a year later.

From 1952 until his death in 1974 he was President of the German Fisheries Association . In addition, he chaired the German Scientific Commission for Marine Research . He was also President of the German-Iranian Society e. V. in Bonn.
