Luciano Sánchez Rodríguez (born May 24, 1944 in Béjar ), also known as Vavá , is a former Spanish football player .

Career

society

In his youth Vavá played for CD Béjar Industrial , the club in his hometown. In 1963 he signed his first professional contract with FC Elche . Here he was only used for the second team in the Segunda División in the first year . With the beginning of the 1964/65 season , the Spaniard was finally part of the professional team. On October 18, 1964, he made his debut in the Primera División against UD Las Palmas and scored one goal.

In the 1965/66 season , Vavá fought his way into the club's main formation and was the top scorer with 19 goals . Towards the end of the decade, however, FC Elche came closer and closer to the relegation ranks. In the 1970/71 season , the club finally rose. The direct resurgence was narrowly missed as a result, but a year later Vavá returned to the Primera División with Elche. There he and his team narrowly escaped relegation in the 1973/74 season .

Before the 1974/75 season he left FC Elche after ten years of club membership and moved to Deportivo La Coruña in Galicia . There Vavá ended his career after a season.

National team

Vavá has played two international matches for the Spanish national team . He made his debut on October 23, 1966 in Dublin against Ireland .
