Mariano Arias Chamorro (born May 18, 1946 in Fabero ), also known as Marianín , is a former Spanish football player .

Career

society

Marianín signed his first professional contract in 1966 and then played in the Tercera División for CA Bembibre and Cultural Leonesa . In the 1970/71 season he scored 36 goals and rose with the club from León in the Segunda División . Here, too, Marianín convinced in the 1971/72 season with 17 goals and reached fifth place with his team.

For the season 1972/73 he moved to the newcomer Real Oviedo in the Primera División . Again, Marianín had no trouble adjusting to the level of the new league. With 19 goals, he was not only the top scorer right away , but was also involved in more than half of all goals of his club. While some teammates now followed the call for big money, Marianín stayed loyal to the club despite lucrative offers. However , he could not prevent relegation in the 1973/74 season . The direct resurgence was finally followed in 1976 by renewed descent. When the re-emergence in 1977 failed, Marianín left the club and moved back to Cultural Leonesa in the Segunda División B .

The Spaniard ended his career in 1979 in his hometown with CD Fabero .

National team

Following his successful first season at Real Oviedo , Marianín was appointed to the Spanish national team for the first and only time in 1973 . He played his only international match on October 17, 1973 against Turkey . The game ended 0-0.
