Juan Roberto Seminario Rodríguez (born July 22, 1936 in Piura ) is a former Peruvian football player .

Career

society

Seminario began his career in 1954 in his home country with Deportivo Municipal and five years later moved to Europe for Sporting Lisbon . With the Portuguese, his willingness to run quickly won his fans' hearts and was nicknamed "The Express from Lima". For the 1961/62 season , the Peruvian moved to Real Saragossa . Here he immediately secured the title of top scorer with 25 goals . After a short detour to Serie A at Fiorentina , Seminario signed a contract with FC Barcelona in 1964 and won the 1966 trade fair trophy with the Catalans . After two more seasons with CE Sabadell , he went back to Peru and let his career with Atlético Grau end.

National team

Seminario made his debut in the Peruvian national team at the age of 20 and played nineteen internationals before he moved to Europe in 1959. The game of May 18, 1959 against the favored England , which Peru clearly won 4: 1 in front of over 50,000 spectators in Lima thanks to a hat trick by Seminario, remains unforgettable .
