Career as a football player

society

In his youth, Bienzobas played for Unión Deportiva de San Sebastián , a small sports club in his hometown. At the age of 17 he was signed by Real Sociedad . In his first season he won the regional championship of Gipuzkoa with the club . In 1928 they reached the final of the Copa del Rey , but lost 3-1 to FC Barcelona in the second decider . A year later, Bienzobas took part with his club in the first season of the newly founded Primera División . Then he won in the 1928/29 season with 14 goals as the first to be awarded the top scorer in this league and ended the season with his team in fourth place. In the following four years Real Sociedad did not get beyond places in the secured midfield.

In 1934 Bienzobas left the Basque Country and moved to CA Osasuna in the Segunda División . In his first season he helped the Pamplona club to rise. In the following season, however, they rose immediately from bottom of the table again. The Spanish Civil War then paralyzed gaming operations and put Bienzobas' career on hold.

After the war ended, Bienzobas returned to Real Sociedad . With the club, which is now also playing in the Segunda División, he achieved another rise. He then completed a few more games in the Primera División in the 1941/42 season before ending his career as a professional footballer at the end of the season.

National team

Bienzobas played two games for the Spanish national team . He made his debut at the 1928 Olympic Games when Spain lost 7-1 to Italy in the quarterfinals . He played his second and last international match on April 14, 1929 against France . Spain won this game - also thanks to two goals from Bienzobas - 8-1.
