Fidel Uriarte Macho (born March 1, 1945 in Sestao , † December 19, 2016 in Castro Urdiales ) was a Spanish football player .

Career

Uriarte played for Athletic Bilbao when he was young . His professional debut with the Rojiblancos took place on September 23, 1962. In the following twelve years, the Spaniard developed into an integral part of the club. In 1969 and 1973 he won the Copa del Rey with Bilbao . In the 1967/68 season he also secured the title of top scorer with 22 goals . In total, Uriarte played 394 competitive games for the club from the Basque Country .

After three years with CD Málaga , Uriarte decided in 1977 to hang up his football boots.

National team

Uriarte has made nine appearances for the Spanish national team . He scored his only international goal on February 20, 1971 in a friendly against Italy , which was won 2-1 from a Spanish point of view.
