Julius Rißmüller (born November 28, 1863 in Minden ; † June 30, 1933 in Osnabrück ) was the Lord Mayor of Osnabrück.

Life

Rißmüller was the son of the factory owner FA Rißmüller from Hann. Münden . He attended high school in Kassel and studied law in Göttingen and from the winter semester of 1883/84 in Leipzig . There he became a member of the Corps Saxonia , but retired as an active member of the family and received the corps ribbon at the 100th Foundation Festival in 1912. He continued his studies in Berlin. After the state examination and doctorate to Dr. jur. he came to the district court of Zellerfeld in 1887 . In 1892 he became a court assessor in Göttingen, but transferred to local government as a legally qualified senator the following year. In 1898 he became city counsel for Osnabrück. He turned down the election as Lord Mayor of Rheydt. A little later he became mayor of Osnabrück, from 1904 with the title of Lord Mayor. During his tenure, the city rose to become the economic and cultural center of West Hanover.

Rißmüller was a member of the Prussian mansion from 1901 to 1918 and a member of the Hanover Provincial Parliament from 1902 to 1929 .

When he left office in 1927, Rißmüller was made an honorary citizen of the city. One place got his name, as did the Rißmüller Foundation, which was endowed with 50,000 RM, for the benefit of needy children in the city.
