Julius Scharre

Franz Julius August Scharre (born January 31, 1810 in Leipzig , † March 17, 1868 in Riesa ) was a German democratic politician and mayor of Strehla .

Life

He studied law in Leipzig between 1830 and 1834 . In 1830 he became a member of the Old Leipzig Burschenschaft . Because of this, he was initially sentenced to two years in prison, but then acquitted by the appellate court in Dresden . He then entered the Saxon judicial service. Between 1834 and 1836 he was an accessist at the City Court in Leipzig. After that he was assessor at the patrimonial court in Rotha until 1845 . In 1845 he was a lawyer and mayor in Strehla.

In 1848 he was elected a member of the Frankfurt National Assembly. He represented the constituency of Hayn . He belonged to the democratic parliamentary group Deutscher Hof and the Central March Association . He did not vote for Friedrich Wilhelm IV. As Emperor of the Germans. Because of his participation in the Stuttgart rump parliament , he was removed from office as mayor in 1849, but was soon reinstated. He remained in office until 1859. After that he was a lawyer in Riesa.

A street in Strehla is named after him.
