Jun'ichi Masuda ( Japanese 増 田 順 一 Masuda Jun'ichi ; born January 12, 1968 in Yokohama , Kanagawa Prefecture ) is a Japanese video game composer , game developer , game programmer and game designer. He is best known for his contributions to the Pokémon franchise.

Career

Jun'ichi Masuda has been with Game Freak since 1989 and is now a member of the Board of Directors . At first he worked mainly as a video game composer. He made his first contribution to Game Freak's debut game Mendel Palace , a puzzle game for the Nintendo Entertainment System , followed by the titles Smart Ball and Yoshi , on which Game Freak first worked with Nintendo . During the development of the first Pokémon games, Pokémon Red and Blue Editions , Masuda served as an assistant programmer, but above all as a video game composer. In the Rubin and Saphir editions , he finally took on leading functions as a developer and was responsible, among other things, for the design of the characters. He composed the music in Pokémon Diamond and Perl and developed the platinum edition as well as Pokémon Heart Gold and Soul Silver . In addition, as a designer he was significantly involved in the design of many Pokémon . Masuda was also a contributing composer for Super Smash Bros. Brawl .
