Jun'ichi Usui

Jun'ichi Usui ( Japanese 臼 井 淳一 , Usui Jun'ichi; born October 6, 1957 in Miyagi Prefecture ) is a former Japanese long jumper .

At 1977 IAAF World Cup he finished sixth, and at the Asian Games in 1978 in Bangkok he won silver.

In 1979 he won the Asian Athletics Championships and took silver at the Universiade . A silver medal at the Asian Championships in 1981 was followed by bronze at the Asian Games in New Delhi in 1982 .

He finished seventh at the 1984 Olympic Games .

In 1985 he finished eighth at the World Indoor Athletics Games in Paris and won silver at the Pacific Conference Games and bronze at the Asian Championships. At the 1986 Asian Games in Seoul, he won silver.

In 1987 he was eleventh at the World Athletics Championships in Indianapolis and twelfth at the World Athletics Championships in Rome .

At the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, he failed to qualify for a valid attempt.

He was eight times Japanese champion (1978, 1980, 1982-1987) and once English champion (1982). He set his personal best of 8.10 m on July 6, 1979 in Paris .
