Jun Tabohashi

June Tabohashi ( Jap. 田保橋淳 , Tabohashi June * 1931 in Seoul , Korea , lives in Tokyo , Japan ) is a Japanese graphic artist and graphic designer , specializing in commercial art and known for his poster art .

Life

Jun Tabohashi graduated from Kanazawa Bijutsu Kōgei Daigaku at the Institute of Painting in 1954 . In 1957 he began to work for the company KK Dentsu (English Dentsu Inc. ) as a graphic designer. From 1969 he taught as a lecturer at the Kanazawa Bijutsu Kōgei Daigaku . In 1982 Dentsu appointed him creative director. In 1991 he left the company and founded his own graphic studio. From 1992 until his retirement in 2002 he was a professor at the Tama School of Art and visiting professor at the Kanazawa Bijutsu Kōgei Daigaku . He is a member of the Japan Graphic Designers Association (JAGDA for short) and the Japan Advertising Arts Club .

In 1964, his works were shown in the graphics department at documenta III in Kassel . Jun Tabohashi has won numerous awards and accolades for his work, including the Nikkei Advertising Award , Asahi Advertising Award , Japan Industrial Advertising Award and other awards. His work is part of the collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City .

His clients include Panasonic , Sony , Canon , Hitachi , Toshiba , NEC , IBM , Nissan , Mazda , Mitsubishi and other large companies for which he designed calendars and advertising. He is known internationally for his poster art.
