Young Nationalists (short: JN ; until January 13, 2018 Young National Democrats ) is the official youth organization of the right-wing extremist NPD founded in 1967 . According to the NPD statutes, the JN are an “integral part” of the party.
ideology
The JN are committed to the basic program of the NPD , but represent these positions much more aggressively, which is evident both during demonstrations and in political style. They are observed by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution and classified as right-wing extremists . Her regular publication is called The Activist . In this central organ, under the heading “The Federal Leader Has the Word”, they describe themselves as “representatives of the national revolutionary wing within the NPD”. The youth organization criticizes those in the NPD who have made the “fight for parliaments” the “most important goal”. Instead, "resistance and criticism are appropriate, since there is a risk of gradual adjustment and bourgeoisie in these developments." The JN describe themselves as anti-imperialist . Among other things, they demand the withdrawal of German troops from Afghanistan, describe Israel as the “enemy of all peoples” in a policy paper (2018) and speak of a “ parasitic state becoming” with regard to this state .
organization
In January 2018, the Young National Democrats renamed themselves “Young Nationalists” and relocated their headquarters from Lübenheen to Riesa . In an interview with the NPD party newspaper German Voice in September 2018, the new JN federal chairman Christian Häger stated that the previous name no longer corresponded to “today's zeitgeist”. We have learned from “newly formed groups”, especially the Identitarian Movement (IB), and the new name should bring the term “nationalism” back to the public.
The Young Nationalists are divided into a federal association and a few regional associations. The chairman of the JN is automatically a member of the board of the NPD by virtue of his office. Among other things, the later NPD chairman Günter Deckert and the former party chairman and head of the Saxon parliamentary group Holger Apfel were former federal chairmen of the Young Nationalists and used this as a springboard to the leadership of the NPD. The JN are not represented in all federal states. The organization is particularly active in the south and east of the Federal Republic of Germany: in mid-2008 there were ten in Baden-Württemberg, nine in Saxony, eight in Bavaria, seven in Saxony-Anhalt and five in Thuringia. Mostly members of the Free Comradeships are recruited . The focus is on youth work through the "formation and training" of members between 14 and 35 years of age.
In general, the NPD does intensive youth work. She gives tutoring, organizes parties and camps and has her own soccer team. The aim of the party and the JN is to introduce young people and children to right-wing extremist ideas through activities that initially appear apolitical. Under the pretense of caring for young people, she pursues a targeted ideologization of the participants. With the National Education Circle (NBK), which existed from 2008 to 2011 , the JN also had a university organization active in four federal states, some of which took part in university elections, albeit unsuccessfully so far.
As part of the Corona crisis 2020 JN called for mutual aid for Corona on -Risikogruppen what the first propagated in the fall 2017 campaign "Youth is tackling" was used. The nationalist aid campaigns only for Germans were provided with slogans such as “We help where the state fails”.
Events
Since 2003, the JN has held the “European Youth Congress” several times, for example in 2003 in Bavaria and in 2007 and 2014 in Saxony.
