Professional background

Krauss grew up in Nuremberg and made at the local Melanchthon-Gymnasium its High School . He then studied mathematics, physics, philosophy and computer science in Erlangen . After moving to Frankfurt (Main) in 1980, he worked in the areas of marketing and sales support for the data processing company Deutsche Olivetti GmbH at the time. He became the third federal chairman of the JN and held this position from 1975 to 1977. He had previously been elected to the National Board of the NPD from 1973 to 1979. Re-elected in 1987, he did not leave until 1998. At least in the last few years he was in charge of politics in the federal board. He was not only considered the head of the NPD's program commission, but also a pioneer of his party. From 1991 to 1994 he was chairman of the NPD Hessen . He had previously been deputy state chairman. Krauss was in conflict with Horst Mahler and his attempts at radicalization within the NPD.

From 1989 to 1993 Krauß was a city councilor in Frankfurt's Römer and chaired his seven-member parliamentary group.
