Jungle ( German : 'jungle') is a song by the Australian singer-songwriter Emma Louise . The piece is the first single from their debut album Vs Head Vs Heart , but only became more popular after a cover version ( My Head Is a Jungle ) with the German DJ Wankelmut .
Creation and artwork
The original version of the song was written by Emma Louise, the later version was written by Jacob Dilßner (Wankelmut), Emma Louise Lobb and Taan Newjam. Jungle was produced by Mary Meyers, My Head Is a Jungle by Newjam and Wankelmut. The single was arranged, recorded and mixed by Mark Myers. The mastering took place under the direction of Matt Redlich. The instrumentalists are Mark Myers on bass, guitar and keyboard and Daniel Ogilvie on percussions and drums. The song was first published by Louise herself, later under the music labels B1 Recordings, Poesie Musik and Universal Music . The cover of Jungle's maxi single only shows the artist and the song title. The cover of the maxi single for My Head Is a Jungle shows a picture of a jungle.
Publication and promotion
Jungle was first released as a single release in Australia on March 31, 2011. My Head Is a Jungle was first released on January 29, 2013 as a vinyl record in Germany. On April 16, 2013, a maxi single was released in Germany, Austria and Switzerland . After over a year, My Head Is a Jungle was re-released on August 15, 2014 in a remix made by Mark Kinchen . In addition, various remix singles, EPs and vinyl records were released regionally for promotional purposes, all of which differ in the number and selection of their B-sides .
Live appearances of the song on the radio or radio have remained in Germany, Austria and Switzerland to this day. Both artists only played the piece live at their concerts. From April 1 to July 3, 2013, My Head Is a Jungle was the official promotional song of VIVA Germany . At the beginning and end of each commercial break, an excerpt from the song could be heard for a few seconds. Since October 2014, the piece has been accompanying commercials for the French fashion company Yves Saint Laurent , in which the company advertises its Black Opium perfume .

In Jungle , Emma Louise sings the song in a dark room with lightbulbs hanging from the ceiling. In between you can see excerpts in which she reads a book in a room and how she opens and rummages through a suitcase in an attic. The total length of the video is 3:23 minutes. In My Head Is a Jungle , only Louise's upper body can be seen in black and white . The entire video is accompanied by various colorful visualizations . My Head Is a Jungle reached position 29 in the single charts in Germany and stayed in the charts for a total of 14 weeks. In Austria the single reached position 55 in five chart weeks. In Switzerland the single reached position 39 in nine chart weeks; later the solo version also placed in the Swiss charts at position 27 and stayed in the charts for seven weeks. In the UK, the single reached position five and stayed in the top 10 for two weeks and in the charts for 26 weeks. Furthermore, the single reached position one in Greece .
For Louise it is the first and to date only chart success worldwide. For Wankelmut as an interpreter, this is his second chart success in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. It's his first top 10 win in the UK. For Wankelmut as an author and music producer, this is his first chart success in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. In the UK, no single of his has been able to place higher or longer in the charts.
